CTC students learn from guest speakers about digital media technology

Digital Media Technology students at Kosciusko-Attala Career Technical Center had a month filled with guest speakers from all areas of communications. Thanks to these speakers, the students were able to learn more about the different careers and the potential opportunities for college studies. Speakers who participated were Wendy Corr, Breck Riley, Brian (B-MO) Montgomery and Caleb Smith.

Wendy Corr, freelance journalist and member of Dan Miller’s Cowboy Music Review, talked about a wide variety of possible jobs in media such as website designer, social media manager, freelance journalist and finally director of the information. While speaking, she encouraged students to always follow their dreams and pursue what makes them happy in life for a career.

Breck Riley and Brian Montgomery, local DJs from Boswell Media, talked about life on radio and possible careers in the world of radio. They told the students about the life of a DJ, how they research the daily news, broadcast sports, and how they both got involved in radio.

Caleb Smith, a professor at the University of West Alabama, spoke to students about the university’s integrated marketing communications major. When part of the major, students can learn about photography, graphic design, writing, and social media management. Many digital media students were interested in the program and learning more about it.
